Freda Theresa Schimpf was born on April 18, in Burstall, Saskatchewan, Canada.

1927

At age 13, Freda got a job cleaning houses, washing, ironing, and cooking, earning $3 per week enabling her to go to high school.

1937

November 14,
Freda married Gordon Lindsay.

1938

Freda completed her studies at L.I.F.E.
Bible College in Los Angeles. California.

1943

Their second child, Gilbert Livingstone, was born

1946

Their third child, Dennis, Gordon, was born.

1948

• The first issue of the Voice of Healing monthly magazine was published by Gordon.

• Freda remained in Ashland, Oregon, taking care of their church and family.

1954

They started the Lindsay Printing company and began printing the monthly Voice of Healing magazine and the books Gordon was writing.

1966

They purchased a bankrupt nightclub, renamed it the “Christian Center,” and began holding regular seminars and evangelistic meetings.

Freda managed the Lindsay printing business while Gilbert was away for his six-months of basic training in the National Guard.

1970

• April 1, Gordon died on his 25th anniversary as President of the ministry in the newly constructed Institute building.

• The 10-man CFN Board of Directors elected Freda as the new president.

1974

• Hosted seven banquets in seven major cities in the interest of Israel.

• CFNI produces its first worship recording.

1976

• Went on a seven-nation trip: Germany for the opening of Christ For The Nations in Bad Gandersheim; Seoul, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand, and India.

• Dedicated the Bible School building in Shillong, India, which CFN had helped CFNI graduate Joseph Skinner purchase.

• Freda’s first book, My Diary Secrets was published.

1979

Enlarged the Institute Building auditorium from 1,400 to 2,500 seats.

1983

Honored as the Christian Woman of the Year.

1985

• At 71, Freda resigned as president of the ministry, but remained serving as Chairman of the Board.

• The mortgage on the GLT was burned during a morning chapel.

1989

Freda composed the worship song, At the Foot of the Cross I Found Jesus.

1994

Freda resigned as Chairman of the Board on her 80th birthday; stayed actively involved in ministry.

2008

Freda officially retired on her 94th birthday.

2009

Inducted into the International Christian Women’s Hall of Fame, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

2010

March 25, Freda died in her home surrounded by family members.

They moved the ministry from Shreveport. Louisiana to Dallas, Texas.

They traveled to Central and South America, prompting the beginning of the Native Church Program, which secures donors to help put the roofs on churches.

Freda hosted a monthly interdenominational ladies’ luncheon.

1967

The Voice of Healing Ministry had grown into a worldwide missionary organization and the name was changed to Christ For The Nations. Freda handled most of the business affairs.

Gordon started Christ For The Nations Institute with its first group of 50 students.

1972

Gordon and Freda present the Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi a Bible and a check for $5,000 for the relief of children who were victims of the Pakistan war.

1975

• The mortgage for the Institute Building was burned in a morning chapel service after it was completely paid for.

• Freda traveled to Nigeria, Africa to speak at the dedication service of the new building for Christ For Nigeria Bible School founded by CFNI graduate, Benson Idahosa.

1977

Freda received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from L.I.F.E. Bible College in Portland, Oregon.

1980

• Freda composed the worship song Lord Make Us One Today.

• November 14, Gordon and Freda’s wedding anniversary, they received the largest gift ever given to CFN—the deed to 41 acres—a property worth a million dollars. The property sold and they were able to pay off the mortgage on the Cornerstone Apartments.

Freda’s second book, Freda, The Woman Who Took Up The Mantle, was published.

1987

Oral Roberts presented Freda with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Oral Roberts University.

1992
