Description:
The Security Officer is responsible for patrolling an 82-acre campus, including buildings and surrounding grounds, to ensure the safety and security of all persons and property within campus boundaries. The role includes monitoring activities, identifying potential safety concerns, and responding appropriately to incidents or emergencies. The Security Officer assists in enforcing CFN policies and procedures to maintain a safe and orderly environment. This position also performs radio and communication operations related to campus security, including the use of computer software programs to document incidents, support coordination, and assist with daily security operations.
Qualifications:
Ability to assess and control potentially explosive and rapidly developing situations
Ability to effectively communicate with people of various cultures and backgrounds
Ability to remain calm and controlled while simultaneously handling visitors, telephone calls, and radio traffic required
Be able to prioritize multiple and conflicting tasks
Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
High school graduation required
Able and willing to work any shift, including night shift.
Physically fit; able to stand, sit, walk, stoop, run, climb, lift, and crouch as needed to accomplish security tasks.
Good vision: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Special Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license
Able to work outdoors under weather conditions normal to Northern Texas.
Be a person of high moral character and integrity who portrays an image of confidence and respect at all times.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform standard procedures to provide for physical safety and security of all CFN students, staff, residents, and guests and property
Assist in enforcing CFN policies and rules related to security of personnel and property
Accomplish, document, and report routine patrols, whether by foot, bicycle, or vehicle, and observations of grounds, buildings, and persons to assess security status
Maintain proper discipline and image of CFN Security Department.
Respond to security related situations and circumstances occurring during the shift to observe and report pertinent information and to intervene as necessary to ensure the safety and security of CFN personnel and property
Monitor and enforce campus rules and regulations, citing violators as appropriate
Document and report incidents, accidents, and other situations as requested or as deemed necessary in compliance with existing CFN policies and procedures.
Respond to building alarm conditions, assessing or correcting conditions as necessar
Perform routine walking patrols inside and outside of CFN buildings to assess level of security
Open, close, lock, and unlock doors and gates as scheduled and/or requested to either allow or prohibit building and room access to CFN residents, staff, students, and visitors
Handle incoming and outgoing telephone calls, providing information to callers as needed, and dispatching officers in response to information received
Maintain radio communication with all on-duty Security Officers while documenting all radio traffic
Perform, or assist with, other security related duties as requested by dispatcher, security supervisor, or security manager
Assist CFN visitors with directions and information about campus and local area
