Below is a helpful list of items to bring or purchase when you arrive, whether you are attending CFNI as a single student or with your family.

All Students

Regardless of whether you are a single student or coming with your family, please plan to bring the following:

• A laptop or computer for your coursework
• Any medications you and your family use regularly (we recommend bringing extra)
• Money set aside for basic household and personal care needs upon arrival

Single Students

What your apartment includes:

• A bed and dresser
• Access to a shared laundry room

What to bring or purchase:

• Bed sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels
• Personal toiletries and hygiene items
• Clothes hangers, a laundry hamper, and an iron or clothing steamer
• Laundry detergent, dish soap, hand soap, dish sponge, trash bags, surface cleaners, mop, and broom. Some of these can be shared expenses with your roommates, so it is worth checking with them before purchasing everything yourself
• Basic kitchen items such as cups, plates, and silverware
• Shower rod, curtain, and curtain rings (check with your roommates first, as someone may already have these items)
• Small kitchen appliances such as a microwave, mini-fridge, or blender. Wait until you connect with your roommates before purchasing, as they may already have what you need and may be willing to share

International Families

What all family apartments include:

• A full kitchen with a stove and refrigerator
• Access to a shared laundry room
• A double bed for each couple and a single bed for children 2 years of age and older, a couch, a dresser, and a dining table.
• Please note that we do not have child mattresses or infant beds available. Please plan accordingly for children under 2 years of age.

What to bring or purchase:

• Bed sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels
• Clothes hangers, a laundry hamper, and an iron or clothing steamer
• A shower rod, curtain and curtain rings
• All kitchen items such as pots, pans, cups, plates, bowls, and silverware
• Small kitchen appliances such as a kettle, toaster, or coffee maker
• A Wi-Fi router
• Personal toiletries and hygiene items
• Laundry detergent, dish soap, hand soap, dish sponge, trash bags, surface cleaners, mop, and broom. If your apartment has carpet, you will also need a vacuum
• Vaccination records for each of your children. If any child is 5 years or older, please also bring their school transfer documents translated into English

Medication and Allergies

Please bring all medications you and your family use regularly, and pack more than you expect to need. Allergy season in Dallas lasts year-round, with common triggers like pollen, grass, cedar, and mold. If you have allergies, we recommend consulting your doctor before you arrive, and bringing effective medication with you.

Please note that medications in the United States may have different names or formulas, so it’s best to bring what you know works for you.
